The Shandrani is located in a large 50 hectare garden in the Blue Bay on the South east of Mauritius. The Shandrani is situated just 6 km from the airport in Mauritius, with a mere 10 minute transfer time. The busting island of Port Louis is just 40 km away, so your well placed for a spot of shopping.

The spacious recently refurbished rooms and suites at Shandrani are all spread amoung the large, award winning gardens.  One of the great things about all of the the accommodation at Shandrani is that no room is far from the beach.All rooms, apartments and suites include; private bathroom with bathtub, shower and W.C, king size or twin beds, minibar, safe, hairdryer, international direct dialling telephone, television with satellite channels and complimentary tea & coffee facilities

Quality and choice is what the Serenity Plus Fully All Inclusive concept at Shandrani is all about.  All of the superb restaurants are included in the package including the three a la carte restaurants. There's champagne by the glass, an impressive wine list including over 40 carefully selected wines, soft drinks and imported spirits including 12 year olds.  There's poolside and beachside service and importantly, for you, no need to sign for any of this - it's all included!

Occasionally the hotel may use one of its restaurants for a group booking and post-Easter to September the hotel may close one of its restaurants.

Le Grand Port

Le Grand Port is the hotels main restaurant offering mouthwatering Creole and Oriental influenced buffet-style cuisine from a number of 'live' cooking stations.  The restaurant has wooden decking which extends down towards the beach and around the pool and offers lovely views over the pool itself and lagoon.  Dress code in the daytime is casual and in the evening is smart casual. Open for breakfast between 0730 – 1000, lunch between 1230 and 1445 and dinner between 1830 – 2130. Seats 320.

Le Sirius Grill & Bar

This restaurant has a stunning location on wooden decking at the tip of the resort, looking out across the hotel’s second pool and serves light tropical a la carte cuisine all day. Dress code in the daytime is casual and in the evening is smart casual. Open for breakfast between 0730 – 1000, lunch between 1215 – 1430 and dinner (on reservation) from 1900 – 2200. Seats 150.

Porto Vecchio

The Porto Vecchio has a fantastic lively atmosphere and serves delicious Mediterranean a la carte cuisine at its location right in the heart of the hotel’s entertainment area. Dress code in the daytime is casual and in the evening is smart casual. Open for lunch between 1215 – 1430 and a la carte dinner 1900 – 2230. Seats: 100.

Le Boucanier

For something special, Le Boucanier is adults only and serves à la carte seafood specialities in an intimate garden setting – fish cooked and served in a bamboo parcel shouldn’t be missed. Dress code in the daytime is casual and in the evening is smart casual . Open between 1900 – 2200 every night for a la carte dinner. Seats: 70.

Open from 1000 – 2230, the Blue Bay Bar is set in the heart of the hotel overlooking the main pool.  Pancakes, snacks, tea and coffee are served from 1500 – 1700.

Le Sirius Bar

Located at Le Sirius Restaurant, the bar is next to the second pool and overlooks the lagoon. Open 1000 to 2230.

The hotel has a superb spa set within the gardens and as part of your all inclusive package all adults will enjoy one complimentary 45 minute Decleor massage.  Having tested the spa it makes perfect sense to treat yourself to the excellent menu of spa treatments many of which use Decleor products.

Bob Marlin Mini Club

All Beachcomber hotels have a free Bob Marlin Mini Club which welcomes children aged 3 - 12 years 7 days a week. The Shandrani Bob Marlin Mini Club is set within its own building in the gardens and is open from 0900 to 2100 daily.

The clubs are run by qualified professionals who provide fun and educational indoor and outdoor activities to keep your little ones entertained and happy.

Every day there is a set activities programme which you can dip in and out of, if you also want to spend some family holiday time together during the day.

Children and infants under 3 can attend the Club but must be accompanied by an adult or baby sitter.

Activities

Unlike other holiday destinations and hotels at all of the Beachcomber hotels in Mauritius many of the land and water sports are free for guests - including water-skiing and at Shandrani, diving is free for all PADI qualified divers!

Over and above all of the standard land and water sports Shandrani also offers a Sailing School, a Kitesurfing School and the Beachcomber Sports & Nature Programme.

Land Sports

Shandrani has 6 floodlit tennis courts (hard courts, Head tennis racket hire is complimentary however tennis balls will need to be purchased), a 9-hole pitch and putt golf course (we recommend you take your own golf balls out with you as they will need to be purchased and are a little pricy in Mauritius), table tennis, volley ball and bocci ball.  The hotel offers weekly free group tennis lessons and a pro is on hand for private lessons.  Mountain bikes are also available and are free for all guests.

Gym

Guests at Shandrani may make use of the gymnasium which has machines and free weights and offers a number of aerobic classes.

Water Sports

With it's location, on Blue Bay, Shandrani is the perfect spot for watersports and there's plenty of free sports including; water-skiing, windsurfing, sailing, glass bottom boat trips, snorkelling trips, kayaks and pedal boats.  There's also weekly free group windsurfing and sailing lessons

Diving - free for all qualified divers
Shandrani Resort & Spa has the only National Geographic PADI-Diving Centre in the Indian Ocean and offers a comprehensive diving programme. All dives are free for qualified divers and offers guests the chance to explore ancient wrecks off the Southern coast and discover sizzling aquariums of tropical fish on the island’s pristine reefs.

Shandrani Sailing Club

The sailing club is a member of the Mauritius Yachting Association and is accredited by the International Sailing Association (ISA).  The club is at a small extra charge to guests and is aimed at those trying sailing for the first time or those wanting to hone basic skills.  It may therefore not appeal to experience sailors.

You can progress to beginners level with an average of just one hours sailing per day for 5 days, concentrating on practical skills.  In a further 5 days, with one hour a day of combined theoretical and practical tuition it's possible to reach advanced level.  6 hour course starts at just £55 per person.  Adults usually train in a laser or catamaran and kids in a Dinghy.

Shandrani Kite Surfing School

If you enjoy the water and want to experience the thrill of kitesurfing, the Shandrani Kitesurf School is a popular choice. Recognised by the International Kitesurf Organisation, the school welcomes everyone, from beginners to seasoned kitesurfers. Best of all, lessons take place on a vast stretch of smooth water - the ideal environment in which to learn or sharpen your skills. The Kitesurf School is at an additional cost.

Deep Sea Fishing
Mauritius offers excellent deep sea fishing in season.  The closest quality fishing charters from Shandrani is an hours drive away.

Beachcomber Sport and Nature

The Beachcomber Sport & Nature Programme brings you thrilling close encounters with the
island's fascinating wildlife, combined with a choice of energetic sporting activities - including mountain biking, trekking, canoeing and canyoning. Whichever you choose, you can take part at a level that suits your skills and confidence. To help ensure your safety, you'll always be accompanied by a qualified instructor and use equipment that's regularly checked and maintained at the peak of efficiency.

All of the activities in the programme have been designed to bring out the best in the unspoiled landscape of southern Mauritius, and there's a chance to visit the famous wildlife sanctuary of Ile aux Aigrettes, too. This 60-acre sanctuary provides a home for rare and endangered wildlife, including the almost extinct Pink Pigeon. Rather than being competitive, the half-day or full-day excursions are geared towards spending time with family and friends according to individual levels of fitness. The Beachcomber Sport & Nature programme is at an additional cost.
