All drivers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driving license from their country of residence. An international driving permit is not acceptable. Drivers aged between 21-25 years must pay a surcharge of $25 per day. Child seats are a legal requirement in the USA for children under 5 year, these are at a supplement of approx. $7 per day. All surcharges are payable locally when the car is picked up.

Parties of over 12 people, including infants, should hire 2 or more vehicles as required.

Passengers/Luggage

The details above give an indication of the capacity of each car type but do not necessarily mean that the equivalent number of passengers and baggage can be carried with comfort. If you are looking for greater passenger comfort or extra luggage room you may wish to hire a larger vehicle or more than one vehicle. Insurance

It is compulsory to have adequate insurance protection to drive hire cars in Florida and as such we have got together with Alamo to offer two packages that you can pre-purchase in the UK. Please see the table below for the protection checklist.

Alamo Fully Inclusive

This includes Collision Damage Waiver, unlimited mileage, $1million liability cover, all taxes and airport charges. Fully Inclusive is included in the basic car hire price.

Alamo Gold Insurance

This includes the same level of cover as Fully Inclusive insurance, PLUS allows an unlimited number of drivers and a full tank of fuel. Gold is available for a small supplement and represents great value - meaning you can share the driving and don't have to worry about finding somewhere to fill up with fuel before returning the car.

Alamo Car Rental Terms & Conditions

If you book car hire in Florida your car rental contract is with Alamo, not Monarch or Lavish Holidays. Prices may vary due to pick up date, location and vehicle availability. Prices are subject to availability. The additional charges shown below are subject to local sales tax and are all payable locally. Conditions apply.

Alamo car hire terms:

Minimum age: 21 years old.

Underage fee: $25 per driver per day will apply for all drivers aged 21-24 years unless otherwise stated.

Additional drivers: $10 per driver per day except where stated otherwise. Additional drivers may be required to present a valid driving license and their credit card at time of rental.

Infant seat: $7 per seat per day. Seats should be requested at time of booking, and returned at the end of the rental, otherwise a fee will be charged.

Seatbelts and child restraint seats: State laws may require the use of these. Seats should be requested at time of booking.

Driving areas: Vehicles can be driven in any state in the US, but must be returned to the point of collection; failure to do so will result in drop-off charges being made.

Fuel policies: A full tank of petrol will be purchased at the time of rental. No credit or refunds will be given for any remaining fuel when the car is returned.

Identification required: A full, valid UK driving license, passport and credit card must be produced in the drivers name.

Overstay fee: If you extend the length of the rental any time after collecting the vehicle, regardless if an additional voucher is presented, a fee of $10.99 per day will be charged to you in addition to the applicable rental rates.

Vouchers: If you have pre-booked a car and then decide to return it earlier than you reserved it for, no credit will be given for the unused portion of the rental.
