Location
Located an hour-and-a-half drive north of Chiang Rai International Airport, the resort is close to the border with Burma and Laos. Accommodation 15 free-standing tented accommodations spaced at a comfortable distance from each other allow total privacy. Built on elevated ground along a one-kilometre (0.6-mile) hillside trail overlooking the Ruak River, Burma, the mountains of Laos or the jungle and Golden Triangle, each tent is designed as an open space with a large outdoor deck. Furnishings are handcrafted and custom-made, in styles reminiscent of 19th-century adventure expeditions. Each tent features one king or two twin beds. Facilities Guests can share their dining experiences in locations that may vary from day to day. Nong Yao is the main restaurant and you can experience lunch as a picnic in the jungle. Some evenings dinner can be arranged at the Camp as may be a barbecue under the stars, a five-course formal meal or a dinner by campfire at Elephant Camp. The spa at Four Seasons Tented Camp has a selection of wonder-working treatments to rejuvenate the body and bathe your spirit in perfect serenity. Amidst the bamboo forests of the Golden Triangle are two open-air salas featuring double treatment rooms, spa beds and a bathtub/shower area. Camp Activities: Mahout training, elephant trekking Upon arrival at the Camp, you will receive traditional mahout outfits. Training starts with learning to bathe and feed an elephant. Together with the elephant's own mahout, you learn the basic commands needed to drive an elephant, which you will have an opportunity to practise on an exploration of the Thai jungle. Golden Triangle excursions In a custom-designed riverboat, you can cruise the Mekong River, passing villages and temples. Snacks and refreshments will be served. Note: Availability of the Mekong River cruise is subject to seasonal water level fluctuations.You can also visit the town of Chiang Saen by car, where they can explore a local market, stop by a temple or do some shopping. Jungle trekking and nature walks The jungle in the immediate vacinity of the Camp is a haven of exotic tropical fauna and flora. Nature treks can be self-guided, or accompanied by a local expert.
